In a major step towards strengthening the UAE’s role in the clean energy transition, Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD Group) and Titan Lithium have signed a 50-year land lease agreement to develop a state-of-the-art lithium processing plant in KEZAD Al Mamourah. The AED 5 billion project will span 290,000 square meters and be developed in three phases, producing battery-grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide — critical materials for electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

Once operational, the plant will import approximately 150,000 tonnes of lithium ore annually from Zimbabwe via Khalifa Port, positioning Abu Dhabi as a global hub for lithium processing and a key player in EV supply chains. The project also supports the UAE’s long-term vision for sustainable development, economic diversification, and global leadership in green industries.
